Project 2: Training in Critical Care Echocardiography
This project assesses the levels of echocardiography training and competency in the Intensive Care Consultant body throughout the region.
It aims to ascertain:
- The current level of expertise amongst Intensive Care Consultants
- The numbers of potential mentors or supervisors for the 'basic level' echocardiography courses
- Access to suitable cardiac ultrasound machine and the facility to archive studies
This information will be used to inform planning of future training in ICM which is envisaged to include a mandatory echocardiography component.
This project is now complete.
This was a face-to-face survey of all consultants working in critical care areas in South Yorkshire.
This is a survey available for all intensive care trainees in the UK.
